MEKB19 is Going Places!

April 29th, 2012

It’s been quite for a while since the first print of the Script left us to travel the world. As all parents we where worried, but according to e-mails we’ve got it all seems to be real good. The Script has traveled all over the world being received with great reception. In fact we’ve gotten e-mails from some of the Scripts encounters telling us how strong, big and independent it has become. That’s something that would make any parent proud! When we ask the Script when it will be back it Sweden again for production the answer is “Later”. While the Script continues with the mingling we’ve started with another project that hopefully will lure the MekB19 script back to Sweden for production. We will keep you updated as much as possible and hopefully there will be great news soon.

September 30th, 2010

We are still developing the story MekB19 but I (Joel) am already considering maybe shooting MekB19 in 3D (live action).

I’d love to hear from you guys if you have shot on 3D or is about to do it and what your experience have been when shooting or researching it? Camera equipment, pre- and post-production work flow etc.

Or do you know other blogs and articles higlighting 3D shooting please post in the comments.  Same goes for interesting film recommendations or experimental 3D projects.

The Background!

August 9th, 2010

The idea of MekB19 originates from when Joel Burman (Producer) served 10 months in the Swedish army in 1998-99 this was when Swedish men still was drafted. Its a bit different now but more about that in another update.

My position was as guard/swat team (it sounds hell of a lot more sexy than it was. We mostly sat around eating pizza in the guard dorms while playing Goldeneye on Nintendo 64 to decide who was to do the next perimeter check). We weren’t allowed to be on duty for more than two consecutive 24 hour periods because the possibility of sleeping disorders and Insomnia (we had AK5′s at your disposal 24/7 so it’s not that strange they had restrictions).

Around midsummer my only chance of getting away for an uncles wedding was to trade shifts with a guy in the other team working the days we weren’t. The trade of became that I was to serve 4(!) consecutive days and nights while the other guy got 3 in a row. We had found out that the on duty officers never payed any attention to the guard roosters so no one would hopefully notice it.

This is a dolled up version of the AK5, the only accessory we had on it was a built in flashlight beneath the barrell.

The 4 day period wasn’t that rough on the sleep but surely it felt on the fourth day when being pulled out of bed 3 in the morning to go out on the compound checking all the storage doors. When doing such a round I had to check out the sports centre and the sauna. To my big surprise it was totally smeared with blood. I have never really seen anything like it, it looked like it had been a knife fight in there. To add-on the only light source was from the flashlight mounted on the AK5 so it really felt as I was starring in my own horror movie.

I don’t remember what happened next, at least I know we never found out what happened in there, if anything had happened at all (someone probably just spilled out the blueberry lemonade used as mixer for the moonshine). But it really gave me the idea about a character doing the same thing as I did and potentially being delusional while there are several killings on the compound.
